This website is dedicated to the memory of Bruce Allen who passed on May 27,2008. A native of South Bar, Cape Breton, Bruce worked for a number of years at the Fortress of Louisbourg doing restoration services.

As well as other projects, Bruce took part in the restoration of the Fortress chapel after the fire in 1974. Founder of the Fortress of Louisbourg Volunteer Militia, Bruce served as the Company Captain from 1994 until turning the position over to his eldest son in 2001. In his free time, he occupied himself producing period spoons and other pewter items, powder horns, doing antique gunsmithing and building blackpowder weapons of various sorts. His great love of living history and the Fortress was evident to all who knew and respected Bruce.
From all of us who benifited from Bruce's wisdom, teaching skills, and patience, "Thanks Bruce, we miss you."
