Margie Allen - AKA Marie Louise Paris
A native of Louisbourg, Marie Louise Paris was the daughter of Thomas Paris and Genvieve Bauche. Although she was married to Jean le Bezot from Normandy on the 12th of June 1744 in the King's Bastion Chapel, she is listed as a widow on the 1749 list of returnees to Louisbourg. She worked as a servant in the Boularderie home.
Margie has been a member of the Louisbourg Militia since it's founding in 1994.

Carl J. Kanne - AKA Sargeant Jacob Zimmermann
A former mercenary with Captain Lieutenant Schonheer's Company of Le Regiment De Karrer, Jacob Zimmermann holds the rank of Sgt. of the Milita. After leaving the Rgt. De Karrer, Zimmermann opened a blacksmiths forge and worked as a civilian blacksmith in the town. Finding too much competion, he and his wife Katherine move to one of the small villages outside the walls and now operate a prosperous smithy.
Husband of Kaye Kanne, Father of 2, and Grandfather of 5, Carl has been involved with the Militia for 5 years. Amoung other hobbies, he does blacksmithing, historical tailoring, leatherwork, blackpowder weapon construction, small arms fabrication, hornwork, and pewtersmithing. A Master Barber by trade, he has over 30 years experience and, along with his wife, Kaye, operates a small barbershop in one of the local towns not far from the Fortress.

Kaye Kanne - AKA Katherine Gauthier-Zimmermann
Katherine Zimmermann, widow of fisherman Frances Gauthier, married Jacob Zimmermann in 1731. Together with her husband, she moved outside the fortress walls to one of the small villages in the valley of the Mira. There they established a thriving blacksmith shop which serves the village and the surrounding area.
Kaye, beloved wife of Carl kanne, is a Master Barber with 15 years experience. Along with Carl, she operates a shop in one of the local towns not far from the Fortress of Louisbourg. As well as having an interest in living history she is an accomplished chocolatier, quilter, mother of two, and Grandmother of five.

Bill Nelson - AKA Lawrence Neilsen
Born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1689, Lawrence Neilsen arrived in Isle Royale in 1732. Established as a trader based out of Port Toulouse, Neilson has long been suspected of having dealings with the English in old Acadia. Nothing has as yet been proven. However, one can never tell with Danes! It was during one such trading expedition that he met and later married the widow Marie Garreaux. He has two step-daughters and travels regularly between Port Toulouse and The Fortress of Louisbourg in his chaloupe.
William Nelson has been a re-enactor for 25 years, portraying Fraser Highlanders, James Rogers Rangers and the Milice in Fortress Louisbourg. In the F&I period and in the Rev War Period, he portrayed the Bn. Sgt. Maj of the 84th of Foot, 2nd Bn, Royal Highland Emigrants, and Sgt. Maj. with the Royal Fencible Americans. Bill enjoys working with his hands, creating folk art from wood, and "tinkering with horn." History is Bill's passion, and being a living historian has enriched his life. He lives with is wife and two dogs in Point Michaud, Cape Breton.

Mary Nelson - AKA Marie Garreaux
Marie Garreaux-Neilsen was born in St. Malo, France in the year 1698. She is the widowed daughter of Louis Garreaux who settled in Gargamelle, Newfoundland in 1737. Upon the death of death of her husband, she and her two daughters returned to live with her father who is a trader. After her daughters married and left home, she began to accompany her father on his voyages to Fortress Louisbourg. There he traded with the local towns-people. It was during one such voyage that she met her present husband, Lawrence Neilson, a Dane who arrived from Copenhagen in 1732. He established himself as a trader in Port Toulouse, Ilse Royale, where the couple now lives. The travel together in their chaloupe, trading at the fortress and surrounding areas.
Mary Nelson has been a living historian for twelve years, primarily recreating the lives of 18th century women - A private's wife, and the lady of an officer. She enjoys the opportunity to portray those who lived before, and has found great friendships through her hobby. She also paints, and enjoys gardening and reading.
